Are hawker portions shrinking? We photograph and weigh real plates, then track the median price per 100 grams by dish and month.
How it works
- Invited contributors photograph each plate from above with a bank card for scale, and log the price.
- Claude estimates the weight from the photo. Some plates are also weighed on a kitchen scale; those weights win, and they measure how accurate the estimates are.
- Plates without a card, low-confidence estimates, duplicates and unusual prices are held for review.
- We publish medians only, and only when a dish has five or more plates in a month. Photos are never public.
- This is a small, self-collected sample, not an official statistic.
